Portrait Artist Statement
My piece is a portrait of a baby its close up, he has baby teeth & some baby teeth growing in, the baby is black, he don't have that many eye lashes. The most prominent element in my piece was value. The most prominent principle we used was contrast.
To create this piece I started by creating a grid, then mapped out my piece where everything is, then I lined it out, then I did shading, then I added contrast.
My inspiration for this piece was because I like love babies so I wanted this piece because it it's a baby & also I liked how it looked. The emotion I tried to convey was shocking or afraid.
My goal as an artist was to have this piece to look exactly how it looked in the picture. I did not reach my goal because I was struggling on the shading & highlights.
By creating this piece I learned how to grid & sketch out the piece, I also learned on how to add shading & highlights, Overall I do like this piece because I feel like I did really good for it to be my first time doing a piece like this., I will use what I learned on this piece for future works because I can teach other people these art techniques.
Cross Contour Artist Statement
My piece depicts a shark. It has a tail and some fins. It is a far view. The title of my piece is Cross Contour lines. The most prominent element is value and the most prominent principle is contrast.
This piece is created by using pen. My piece don't really look 3D but I am going to get it to look 3D. I mapped it out using pencil and then I used pen. Before I used pen on my final I had used it on the original one to see what technique I could use then I used pen on my final to create value.
What expired me to choose my piece is because I feel sharks are really pretty and cool. When I watch TV w/ my grandma we watches animal show and I be see sharks. I thought about that and decided to do a shark.
My goal for this piece was to use cross contour lines to make it look 3D. I don't think I achieved my goal because it don't look 3D right now but I am going to keep going to get it to look 3D. I think I need to have more practice to get where I want to be.
While creating this piece I learned about cross contour lines. I learned how to adjust line quality and how to add texture w/ pen. The final piece really didn't come out how I wanted it to because I wasn't done. I would like to add color to the background to make it look like the shark is in water. I think it might look realistic.
WaterColor Artist Statement
My piece shows a bridge with water around it. It has a littler shack on it. The sky is pink, purple, and blue mixed together. The water has a reflection of the sky on it. The most obvious element in the piece is value. The most obvious principle is contrast.
I started my piece by mapping it out and then I used wet on wet to create a wash for the background. After the paint dried I used wet on dry to add details but I stated out light and then I went over it and started adding more layers.I didn't outline any of my lines. I used a flat brush for the wash and a round brush for the details.
What inspired me to draw this piece is that it looked really pretty and cool. I liked the colors and combination that was used in it. I also like how the bridge looked and how the colors dark and light mixed look awesome on it.
My goals was to make my piece look realistic and how it look and to get the colors the way it is on the picture I looked at. This piece did help me reach my goals because I feel like I did better then what I did on the last project.
I learned new techniques while using watercolors. I learned how to do wet on wet and dry on wet. I learned how to start light and then add layers as you go. My piece don't really look realistic but it look good and I am happy with it. I will used what I have learned with using watercolor in the future. I think watercolor is something I can using when trying to get foreground, mid ground, and background.
Oil pastel Artist Statement
This piece shows dolphins surfing.and it supposed to be a big dolphin and a small dolphin. The water is going from light to dark. The wave is going different directions. The most obvious element is texture. The most obvious principle is movement.
I made this piece using pastel. I learned new techniques while using pastel. I learned how do get detail when using pastel. I learned how to get into little areas when using pastel. I learned how to go from dark to light. when you want a dark color you use heavy pressure. When you want it to be light you use light pressure.
What inspired me to make this piece is that I really love animals and dolphins are really pretty so I decided to draw dolphins. I feel like if people saw my piece that it would bring happiness to them. My piece is meant to show how cute dolphins can be.
My goals as an artist is to become a better artist and help others to become a better artist. My piece didn't quite yet help me with my goals because I feel like I need more practice.
When creating this piece I learned how to use pastels and how to go from dark to light using heavy pressure and light pressure. My final piece is not really what I imagined but its looking ok tho. This piece will influence my future art work because people can want to become an artist and they can use these techniques to help them.
Foreshortening Artist Statement
My piece is a picture of a dog. I used pencil to shade and create the highlights. He is close up and the head is bigger then the body. The most obvious element is texture and the most obvious principle is movement.
My piece was created from using pencil. I used pencil to to the dark are areas and light areas but the areas that are white I just left them the way they was. I used heavy pressure to make some areas dark and I used light pressure to make some ares light.
What inspired me to make this piece is that I thought of my old dog and I decide to look up pictures of dogs and decide to draw a picture of a dog. My piece doesn't really show no emotions. Also when people are feeling down or sad they could look at this piece and smile.
My goals as an artist is to become a better artist then what I am now. This piece helped me reach my goal a little bit because I did better on this piece then what I did on my other pieces I did. What I have been learning helped me a lot.
When creating this art piece I learned how to shade with heavy pressure and light pressure with a pencil. The final piece is what I imagined a little bit because I imagined the piece to look how it looked in the picture. This piece will influence the future because it could help people to be able to use these techniques and become a good artist then become a better artist.
Mater's Style Artist Statement
My piece is a picture of a tree. It's not up close, it has a few other trees too. The most obvious element is value. The most obvious principle is movement.
My piece was created by using paint and I did it on a white board covered in white dried paint. I used a white board so that it keeps the paint how you want it. I used a lot of acrylic paint and a little bit of water.
My piece doesn't really have a meaning to it, I just chose a picture of a tree! Trying to get the color you want is going to take some time if it's your first time using the acrylic paint.
My goal as an artist with this piece was to create small brush strokes and have it look realistic too. When using acrylic paint you have to be careful because it doesn't come out of your clothes.
This piece kinda turned out how I imagined. This piece will influence my future works. Other people can learn to use acrylic paint. It's not hard to learn how to use it, you just have to be careful with it.
Tiki Artist Statement
My piece is a Tiki God. The subject matter is Polynesian Tiki Sculpture. The most obvious element is Texture. The most obvious principle is Balance.
The media my piece is made from is clay. The tools and techniques I used were a rolling pin to keep the clay from messing up when you blend or add something to it. I used these blending stumps to help blend in little spaces that I couldn't reach. I used dentist tools to carve out anything if I needed to.
My piece wasn't optional but what I put on it were optional. It doesn't really have a meaning to it.
My goals as an artist is to do better and better on each project. This piece did kinda help me reach my goal because I feel like I did good on it but I don't really like it like that.
When creating this piece I learned how to use clay the right way. The final piece is what I imagined. My piece will influence my future artwork because I could try and do better every time.
Art Show Piece Artist Statement
My artwork still looks how I had drew it. The subject matter is two people walking away from their love. The title of my art work is art show piece. The most obvious element is line. The most obvious principle is movement.
The media my art work is made from is pencil. I used pencil to create my piece. I didn't really have enough time to because I kept getting distracted and not being able to stay focus so it's just made out of pencil.
People just walking away from their love/giving up on their love is expired me to make this piece. My piece express something that people go through from time to time. I tried to show two people walking away from each other and a heart in the middle breaking, like their love is falling apart.
My goal as an artist is to do better on the next piece that I chose to do because I don't really like my piece now. This piece did not help me reach my goal because I just gave up on the piece and just not cared about doing it no more because I couldn't stay focus.
In creating this art piece I learned to stay focus more and do better next time. The final piece is what I imagined but I still don't like it. This will influence me to do better when creating a better piece.
